In order to visit the Canton Fair, you need to first get an Official Invitation. There are several ways to get an invitation, the easiest perhaps is if you already do business with a Chinese manufacturer, they can arrange it for you. If not, then through the cantontradefair.com is an easy way to apply online, or ask at the Economic and Commercial department of the Chinese Embassy.
Once you have the official invitation you can then apply for a Business Visa.
When you arrive in Guangzhou before the fair, you will need to register and you can usually do this at your hotel, most of the business hotels offer this service. You’ll need a photo, 5cm x 4cm as well as your invitation and passport to get an entry badge, the IC card, which gives you free access to the exhibition.

The Canton Fair has been held in the Pazhou complex six years

The Canton Fair has become the most comprehensive trade event in China since its inception in 1957 and the recent move to the larger Pazhou Complex should help with its ever-increasing expansion.   Held twice per year (Spring and Autumn) in Guanzhou, China’s “Flower City”, the fair has the largest scale, the widest variety of exhibits (nearly 20,000) and the most business turnover from nearly 200,000 buyers and expects even higher figures every year.  Instead of the traditional two phases, this year’s edition will be broken into three. The Canton Fair has been held in the Pazhou complex since 2008. Thus living near the Pazhou complex will save you a lot of time on commuting between your hotels and the Fair. But since Pazhou is in the suburb of Guangzhou, you will have to take a long drive to the downtown.
The Pazhou Complex was opened in 2002 and it is located in Pazhou island, the southern part of Guangzhou. It is now one of the venues for the China Export Commodities Fair (or “Canton Fair”). The Pazhou Complex has 16 indoor exhibition halls on the first and the second floors and can be cover up to 10,200 exhibition spaces. It has an indoor exhibition area of 160,000 sqm and an outdoor exhibition area of 22,000sqm.

The Pazhou Complex is accessible by either the Pazhou or XinGangDong metro station, both on line 8. XinGangDong is closer to Area A of the Canton Fair while the Pazhou station is closer to Area B and C. Pazhou Complex is near South-China Highway and locates in Pazhou area of Haizhu District. In its south is Xingangdong Road, which is the main road to the Complex. Xingangdong Road intersects the whole Pazhou Complex from east-west side.
The roof adopts large span space truss of prestressed sustained steel tube, using 15000 tons of steel. The surface uses frosted stainless steel. The external walls in the east, west and north are glass walls. With a total area of 58000m2, these glass walls give a brilliant and spectacular appearance.
The Canton Fair provides interpreters of different languages including English, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Arabic. For interpretation service, you need to contact the Interpretation Service Center in advance.

At Canton Fair this past April, some attendees noticed one small new detail: several European and South American chambers of commerce were seen with their own exclusive service counters. These were part of a new service package offered by Fair organizers this year, specially designed to accommodate the needs of chamber members and their associates. Participating organizations in this inaugural offering included the China-Britain Business Council, the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in China and the Brazil-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
