The Canton Fair, held in Guangzhou twice a year in spring and autumn since 1957, has over 50 years of history and is the most prestigious, largest-scale, comprehensive international trade fair with the largest attendance and business turnover in China. The Fair is a comprehensive multi – functional event of international importance.
The Canton Fair is unique in that it combines the traditional advantages of a comprehensive exhibition with the recent trend of moving towards specialised events. The Fair contains over 150,000 product types, ranging from light industry, textiles and garments to high-tech and high value-added electromechanical products.

Canton Fair has been a major trade show for decades. Thousand of overseas buyers come to Guangzhou to meet with manufacturers from China to source and produce a wide range of consumable goods.

In order to visit the Canton Fair, you need to first get an Official Invitation. There are several ways to get an invitation, the easiest perhaps is if you already do business with a Chinese manufacturer, they can arrange it for you. If not, then through the cantontradefair.com is an easy way to apply online, or ask at the Economic and Commercial department of the Chinese Embassy.
Once you have the official invitation you can then apply for a Business Visa.
When you arrive in Guangzhou before the fair, you will need to register and you can usually do this at your hotel, most of the business hotels offer this service. You’ll need a photo, 5cm x 4cm as well as your invitation and passport to get an entry badge, the IC card, which gives you free access to the exhibition.
